Riyadh: DKMO Celebrates Grand Annual Family Get-Together

Riyadh/Saudi Arabia, 20 Nov 2015: Dakshina Kannada Muslim Okkoota (DKMO) here organized annual Family get-together Al Rushd Resort, here on Friday November 12. It was attended by over 1,500 expats from different regions of Karnataka.
Basheer Talapady welcomed the gathering, while Rashad bin Dawood held the Qiraat to begin the programme.
Yusuf Saqafi Baithar inaugurated the programme here on Friday November 12. Salauddin Qureshi was the chief guest of the occasion.
DKMO president Abdul Aziz Bajpe, general secretary Fazulu Rahman Kolkar and treasurer Abbas Ucchil and were present in the dais.
Yousuf Saqafi Baithar, in his inaugural address highlighted DKMO’s charity schemes carried out since its existence. He further explained the significance of charity by quoting 3 Hadith of Islam which comprise extending helping hand to the human being specially orphans, widows and poor needy people. He also narrated the significance and reward of the charity in accordance with the teachings of Islam.
Salahuddin Quraishi said, ‘How we get shadow in Jannah in return of the charity work we do in our life, with narration of interesting evidence about the miracle of charity.’ Addressing the students in the audience, he gave tips on how without earning also we can help the society by sharing the knowledge and skills with those needy people. He also insisted to join as member of DKMO and be part of the charity activity.
Fazul Rahman Kolkar presented activity report and special schemes of DKMO.
The special events - Islamic and general topic quiz elevated the interest of gathering. Winners of five teams participated in the quiz - IFF, Khidma Foundation, DKSC, JF & Panorama. IFF emerged as winners and runners up are shared with JF and DKSC.
Sports and games was conducted under the leadership of Haneef N S and Shameer Mangaluru. In tug-of-war competition IFF Riyadh emerged as winners and Mango Boys were runner up. In volleyball match, Bantwal Friends were winners and Bankal Friends were runner up. In the push-ups competition, Shafi Vamanjoor bagged the first prize and Muzaffar Bantwal was the runner up.
Team from McDonalds entertained the children with some spot games and face paintings and were given lots of gifts and free coupons for all the participants.
Free health check-up camp was held by Kadesiya Medical Centre led by Santhosh Shetty, managing director of KMC. Many people availed the benefit.
In the ladies section games for the children and ladies, Islamic quiz with some spot games also conducted by the ladies team.
As part of DKMO Anti Dowry Campaign, a well composed song by Sharif Nirmunje was launched, describing the evil of dowry system in the society, and melodiously explaining how to eradicate this dowry system from the society.

Delicious food was served under the leadership of G K Shiekh Kulur, Musthaq Yermal and their team from Al Mas Restaurant, Riyadh.
