Udupi: Annual mega Food Festival and Traditional Sports Event held at Moodubelle Parish

M/belle, 13 Oct 2015: The grand food festival along with traditional sports event was held at St. Lawrence Parish hall on Sunday the 11th October 2015 as part of Mission Sunday collection.
Every year Moodubelle Parishioners help out for the mission Sunday by organizing the food festival and khella spordo. The traditional sports events are held for interesting sports such as Modllam Volchem, Narl Solche, Sudtheche Ir kadchem, poplam solchim (All konkani names). All these games are very humerous to watch and very competitive and fun loving games enjoyed each and every one present. It is also the day for all children to dance and around taste every food available on the counter.
The special event of the day was Food without Fire where are large number of people took part and displayed variety and delicious food. Variety of food was prepared by 3 wards namely St. Peter 1 and 2 And Holy Family. In total 20 out of 23 wards participated in the grand competition and it was indeed a great joy and fun when all people of parish join hand in hand to prepare this food on spot. The food without fire will be judged on display, variety of delicacies, decoration, presentation and taste. This event was judged by prominent chefs and results will be announced on Mission Sunday.
Rev. Fr. Clement Mascarenhas inaugurated the food festival at around 2 pm along with Mr. Valerian Alva (Vice President, Parish Council), Mr. Joseph Martis, and ICYM members Nevil D’Souza (President).
All ICYM members joined in helping out and organizing the event in an very orderly manner and maintaining the timing and successfully and efficiently conducted all the games.
Besides cooking without fire, there are other food counters where the food was available on coupon system. The Mangalorean delicacies such as Pork, chicken and variety of delicious food and snacks were available organized by ward members.
