Udupi: Foundation stones to three Diocesan Project to be blessed on 15 October

Udupi, 12 Oct 2015: On the occasion of the completion of three years of the establishment and installation of the first Bishop of Udupi on 15 October 2015, foundation stones will be blessed as a mark of launching of three major and most urgently required projects: Pastoral Centre, Home for Retired Priests and Minor Seminary. The blessing ceremony will take place at 10 am on 15 October 2015 on the Diocesan land near Kinnimulky. This information was given by Rev. Msgr. Baptist Menezes, Vicar General of Udupi Diocese at a press conference held at Bishop’s Office at 4 pm on Monday, 12 October 2015. Rev. Fr. Denis D’Sa, PRO of Udupi Diocese and Rev. Dr. Lawrence D’Souza, Secretary of Catholic Education Society of Udupi(CESU) who is also the coordinator of the 18 Pastoral Commissions were also present at the Press Conference.
Most Rev. Dr. Gerald Isaac Lobo will bless the foundation stones of these three projects. Sri Vinay Kumar Sorake, Honourable Minister of Urban Development, Government of Karnataka and District Minister in Charge and Sri Pramod Madhwaraj, MLA of Udupi will be present as Chief Guests. Besides these guests, priests and Religious of the Diocese, members of the Diocesan Pastoral Council, Vice Presidents and Secretaries of all Parish Pastoral Councils of the Udupi Diocese will also be present for this function.
The Pastoral Centre will cater to the pastoral needs of the people of the Udupi Diocese. The centre will accommodate 18 Commissions. All these Commissions will have their offices in this centre. Besides, the centre will have two auditoriums and other related facilities required for seminars and other training programmes. The Pastoral Centre will be constructed in three phases-Ground Floor plus two upper floors at Kinnimulky. The total cost of this project is estimated at nine crores of rupees.
Home for the Retired Priests and Minor Seminary will be constructed in the land allotted for this purpose in front of the Milagres Cathedral, Kallianpur at an estimated cost of five crores and four crores respectively.
