Mumbai: Buses collide at Khapoli Ghat, Mumbai - Pune Highway; 2 died, many injured

Mumbai, 08 Oct 2015: Two persons died and many passengers injured when 2 buses collided at Khapoli in Raigad district on Mumbai – Pune highway on Wednesday October 7 morning.
Maharashtra state-owned bus plying from Pune – Lonavala – Mumbai head on collided with Gujarat registered private bus plying from Ahmedabad to Pune, collided at Khapoli Ghat, when the axle of state-owned bus broke at the steep curve. The state-owned bus plunged into the gorge hit the boulder and stopped about 200 feet from the accident spot, informed the eye witnesses.
Khapoli – Laxminagar police arrived at the spot and registered a case in this regard and investigations are in progress.
