Mangaluru: Konkani Natak Sabha celebrates 72nd Anniversary

Mangaluru, 06 Oct 2015: Konkani Natak Sabha celebrated its 72nd Anniversary on 4th October 2015 at Don Bosco Hall, here. ‘Kon Aplo’ drama written and directed by John M. Permannur was staged by young and old artists.
Fr Peter Cyprian D’Souza, President of Konkani Natak Sabha presided over the programme. Edwin J.F. D’Souza, Executive director of Konkani Institute, St. Aloysius College was the chief guest. Vice President Prem Lobo, General Secretary Sunil Menezes, Joint Secretary Judy D’Souza and Treasurer Jerry Concessao were on the dais.
Veteran actors Vincent Dias, Rita Fernandes and Dolla Mangalur were felicitated with Austin D’Souza Prabhu award, Norbert Corda award and James Mendonca award respectively. Each award carries a cash prize of Rs 10,000 and citation. Vincent Dias spoke on behalf of the felicitated actors.
Edwin J F D’Souza thanked Konkani Natak Sabha for staging hundreds of dramas for the past 72 years. He remembered that the first Konkani novel of Mangaluru ‘Angel’ written by Jo Sa Alvares was first published by Konkani Natak Sabha.
In his presidential address Fr Cyprian D’Souza thanked all the donors, spectators and well wishers of KNS. Fr Cyprian D’Souza was facilitated for celebrating his Golden Birthday recently.
Philanthropists Michael D’Souza from Dubai, Norbert Corda from Doha Qatar and Walter Nandalike the editor-in-chief of Daijiworld Media were present.
Vice President Prem Lobo welcomed the gathering; General Secretary Sunil Menezes presented the annual report, Joint Secretary Judy D’Souza proposed vote of thanks. Floyd D’Mello compered the programme.
