Bantwal: Man barbarously kills wife, 2 children at Manchi

Bantwal, 24 Sep 2015: In a horrific tragedy a person barbarously murdered his wife and 2 little children by a machete, and committed suicide himself, being reported from Manchi village, near here on Wednesday September 23.
The deceased has been identified as forty-five-year-old Padmanabha Nayak, member of Manchi gram panchayat and was a resident of Nooji, near here, who has committed suicide after barbarously hacking to death his wife forty-year-old Pushpavati, their children nine-year-old Pratvi and seven-year-old Poorvi.
Padmanabha had leased a private plot at Bollai near Manchi, here and employed people to make grinding stones and was trading on it. He was elected twice as member of Manchi gram panchayat on BJP ticket. He arrived at his house on Tuesday at 8.45pm and sent his mother to stay overnight at his brother’s home nearby.
The police suspect, Padmanabha hacked his wife, two children despite their struggle to flee. He later committed suicide by hanging to the roof.
RSS leader Prabhakar Bhat, former MLA Padmanabha Kottari, ZP members M S Mohammed and Chennappa Kotian, TP president Yashawant Deraje, TP member Dinesh Amtoor, Mohammed Sharif, Madhav Mave, Lavina, Kolnadu gram panchayat president Subaschandra Shetty, Sajipa gram panchayat president Ganapati Bhat, Ira gram panchayat president Abdul Razak and others visited the spot.
Dakshina Kannada district SP Dr Sharanappa S D, ASP Vincent Shantakumar, Bantwal suv division ASP Rahul Kumar, circle inspector Belliappa, rural sub-inspector Rakshit Gowda, town sub-inspector Nandakumar also visited the spot.
Bantwal rural police registered a case and investigations are underway.
