Udupi: Genuine social activists don’t get awards - Swami Esha Vittaldas

Udupi, 22 Sep 2015: The people who are unfit for public honor because of their ill character are felicitated in several venues without any other alternative. Meanwhile, Ganeshotsav Committee of Bantakal, near here chosen such people who are an exception to this, becaue they are genuine social activists, said Swami Esha Vittaldas of Sandipani Sadhanashram, Kemaru.
Swami Vittaldas was speaking after felicitated Vedamurti K Vedavyasaraya Bhat, who has been the priest serving 73 years at Durgaparameshwari temple, Bantakal, near here, during the religious discourse held on the occasion of Ganeshotsav at Bantakal, near here on Sunday September 20.
Swami Vittaldas also felicitated the astrologer and scholar Kenja Sridar Tantri Kutyar, renowned movie actor Ramesh Bantakal, child artistes Preeti Acharya and Srinidhi Devadiga on the same occasion.
Swami Vittaldas also said, ‘The religious celebration held as per Vedic rites yield results. The culture of sending elderly to old-age homes is not our culture. It’s tragic that the religious leaders and heads of mutts inaugurating old-age homes. Parental care is greater than any worship. The need of the hour is to create awareness in this regard and campaign should be launched to shut down old-age homes,’ said Swami Vittaldas.
The senior journalist lecturer Siddapura Vasudev Bhat delivered religious discourse on worshiping Sri Vinayaka in Indian culture and its significance.
Ganeshotsav Committee president Madhav Kamat presided the programme.
The honorary president Shankar Nayak welcomed the gathering. The secretary Dinesh Devadiga proposed vote of thanks. Mulkady Raghavendra Bhat rendered the prayers. Dinakar Rao, Ramachandra Acharya, Pradeep Kulal introduced the guests. Madhav Acharya compered the programme.
