Puttur: Seminar on Social values in Bhishma Saahani’s writings held at SPC

Puttur, 16 Sep 2015: St Philomena College (SPC), the department of Hindi, in association with Corporation Bank organized UGC sponsored National Seminar on ‘Social Values in Bhishma Saahani’s Writings’ at College auditorium here on Tuesday September 15.
The inaugurator of the seminar M B Ganesh, DGM, Corporation Bank, Zonal Office in his inaugural address said, ‘Bhishma Saahani was one of the most prolific writers of Hindi literature. His command over common languages enabled him to attach his writing to the hearts and minds of common people.’
Dr Jayanthi Prasad Noutiyala, DGM, Corporation Bank, Head Office delivered the keynote address. He said, ‘Bhishma Saahani’s works are characterized by a sense of compassion, values of universal humanism and lucid narrative.’
Fr Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, College campus director was the chief guest. Professor Leo Noronha, principal welcomed the gathering. Fr Alfred J Pinto, the correspondent presided the function.
In technical sessions, Dr Sunitha Manjanbail, head of department of Hindi, Gulbarga University, Dr Pramod Kupravat, head of department of Hindi, Calicut University and Dr Sham Kishor Pande, former DGM of Syndicate Bank were the resource persons.
In valedictory function, Dr P L Saroj, the director, Directorate of Cashew Research was the chief guest. Dr Jayanthi Prasad Noutiyala delivered the valedictory address.
Professor Leo Noronha presided the function.
Professor Vishnu Bhat, head of department of Hindi and the convener of seminar proposed the vote of thanks. Professor Maria Priyadarshini, department of Hindi and Elizabeth Sebastian compered the programme.
