U T Khader comes as saviour to cancer patient from Kolkata
Mangaluru, 03 Sep 2015: In yet another act of showing his humane side, Minister for Health U T Khader rushed a cancer patient in distress to Wenlock Hospital and also made all arrangements to ensure that the man hailing from Kolkata is given care and treatment.
It is said that a man named Shubhankar hailing from Kolkata was loitering in the city seeking help. A local Good Samaritan who took care of Shubhankar for a day or two managed to contact the Minister, who promptly responded and made arrangements to treat the terminally ill man and also assured to admit him to Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology in Bengaluru if there is a need.
It is said that Shubhankar was undergoing treatment in Chennai and in turn of events he was lost and landed in Mangaluru about five days ago. A local named Harish Belchanda living in Kadri did give Shubhankar food and care for few days before making an attempt to admit the man to a local private hospital. However, Belchada’s attempts met failure as the private hospital refused to admit Shubhankar as he did not have any documents.
Later, Belchada contacted minister, U T Khader and the Minister arranged for the 108 ambulance to the spot. He also asked the medical officer of the hospital to ensure that the patient gets proper treatment there.
Evidently, Shubhankar comes across to be mentally disturbed as he has not been letting out details about himself. In a diary, Shubhankar has jotted down names of some well-known personalities with their address and phone number, which has left many as to how he managed to get those details.
Shubhankar has given his address as Shubhankar Saha, son of the late Sameer Saha and Mrs Khatia Saha, Krishnanagar, Post Shaktinagar, Nagendra Choudhary Road, district Nadia, PIN 741 102, West Bengal.
