Mangaluru: Konkani Academy organizes Informative meet for theater artistes in city

Mangaluru, 02 Sep 2015: Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy in collaboration with Konkani Natak Sabha® here organized an informative meet for Konkani theater artistes at Don Bosco Hall, here on Sunday August 30.
Konkani Natak Sabha® president Fr Peter D’Souza inaugurated the programme here on Sunday.
Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy president Roy Castelino in his presidential address said that it’s a small step in returning the debt of theater artistes who strived for promotion of Konkani art and culture. It’s due to lack of info about government facilities meant for Konkani litterateurs and theater artistes; no come forward to avail them. The Academy will take the leadership in pooling the info about the theater artistes to submit to the concerned department. It’s just the beginning. The plans are afoot to organize such info camps for litterateurs and theater artistes of distant lands, said Roy.
The senior theater artiste Tony Ruzai released the brochure that included all info about Konkani theater artistes.
The artistes were ushered into to participate in the programme by Kudmi community veteran theater artiste beating traditional drum ‘Gumat.’
GSB leader Niranjan Rao, Konkani Samskrutik Sangh president Vidya Kamat and Konkani Basha Mandal president Geeta Kini were present at the dais.
Konkani Academy registrar and Kannada and culture department – Udupi district assistant director Dr B Devdas Pai offered info on state facilities meant for artistes that are offered by Kannada and culture department and other Academies. He also said a Committee has been formed at the leadership of Konkani Academy in this regard.
The convener Dolla Manglur proposed vote of thanks. Raymond D’Cunha compered the programme.
