Bantwal: Civic Pump operator attempts to commit suicide at Alike; hospitalized

Bantwal, 21 Aug 2015: A staff of a village council attempted to commit suicide by consuming disinfectant owing to workload in Alike gram panchayat office, near here on Thursday August 20.  

 

Lingappa Prabhu, who was employed as pump operator and collector of water charges by Alike gram panchayat has attempted to commit suicide by consuming disinfectant in the office itself on Thursday.

 

 

The locals called the state-run ambulance service and he was taken to Vittal community health centre, where first aid was given and later taken to Wenlock Hospital, Mangaluru. He was later admitted in a private hospital in Mangaluru, because of lack of facility in the state-run hospital.

 

He was worried about his multiple tasks that info he shared with his colleagues. The exact cause for committing suicide is yet to be known.

 

Vittal police registered a case of attempted suicide.
