Bantwal: Minister Rai urges Congress-backed GP members to enhance party image

Bantwal, 03 Aug 2015: The district-in-charge minister B Ramanath Rai urged the newly-elected gram panchayat members who have won recent elections on Congress ticket and also party activists to respond to the needs of the people in their respective villages, thereby try to enhance the reputation of Congress party.
The minister Rai was speaking after inaugurating the felicitation function of newly-elected members of gram panchayat which was organized by Panemangaluru block Congress at Brahmashree Narayana Guru auditorium, B C Road, here on Sunday August 2.
The elected representatives have greater responsibility in enhancing the reputation of party, said minister Rai. He appealed to them in order to be prepared for forthcoming elections for taluk panchayat and zilla panchayat. Congress has given equal prominence to poor and all section of society. The Land Tribunal Act, Panchayat Raj Act, Mid-day hot meals, housing for poor, Bhagyajyoti scheme etc are introduced by Congress. The party workers have to convince the people on these pro-people schemes, said minster Rai.
BJP-backed candidate Vasanti who had won the elections in Goltamajalu gram panchayat was inducted into Congress on the same occasion.
Bantwal town councilor Vasanti Chandappa, deputy councilor Yashmin, Congress leader K Harikrishna Bantwal, BUDA chairman Pius L Rodrigues, district Congress vice president B H Khader, Bantwal block Congress president Mayilappa Salian, Panemangaluru block Congress president Abbas Ali, taluk panchayat steering Committee president Ida Suresh, council member B Padmanabha Jain, ZP member Mamata D S Gatti, M S Mohammed, Chandraprakash Shetty, Divya Prabha Chiltdadka, district youth Congress general secretary Lukman, youth Congress president Prashant Kulal were present.
All the Congress-backed winners of gram panchayat elections were felicitated on the occasion.
Sadashiv Bangera welcomed the gathering. Jagdish Koila proposed vote of thanks. The gram panchayat member Latif Neralakatte and Rajeev Kakkepadav compered the programme.
The farmers’ suicides are indeed more distressing. Suicide is the remedy for any difficulty. The state administration is with the farmers. Therefore, none should be driven to desperation. The state administration will enact laws to save the farmers from money lenders who are exploiting them with huge interests on loans. The district administration already cautioned such money lenders.
