The former railway minister and visionary of Konkan Railway (KR), true son of soil - George Fernandes is the inspiration for us because of his farsighted vision has made it possible to link Karnataka – Goa and Maharashtra by laying Konkan Railway. Railway Yatri Sangh is committed to realize the vision of George Fernandes to reach the benefits of KR to the future generation,’ said Simantoor Uday Shetty, president of Railway Yatri Sangh.
Uday Shetty was speaking during the meeting of Railway Yatri Sangh held at Hotel Link View, Jairaj Nagar, Borivali (West) here on Saturday August 1 morning.
The founder honorary president Virar Shankar B shetty, advisor Yermal Harish Shetty, honorary general secretary Sheela Shetty was present at the dais.
Uday Shetty further said that Railway Yatri Sangh will urge union railway minister Suresh Prabhu in approving the proposal to double the tracks of KR, while local MP Gopal Shetty will follow up the issue with railway authorities in this regard, said Uday Shetty.
Virar Shankar Shetty said that the Railway Yatri Sangh aims to realize the far range plans of KR visionary George Fernandes for future generation. He hoped their struggle to upgrade KR will get further benefits to commuters of coastal Karnataka – Goa and Maharashtra.
Railway Yatri Sangh organizing secretary Oliver D’Souza briefed about the KR issue, the remedial measures etc.
Railway Yatri Sangh vice president Premanat Kotian, joint secretary Rajit Suvarna, advisor Harish N Shetty Malad, Vasu Putran, Anil Kumar Salian, Jayaram Shetty and others shared their views on improving commuter services on KR.
