Mangaluru: Minister Rai to launch Mobile campaign to restore confidence of farmers

Mangaluru, 01 Aug 2015: At the backdrop of increasing incidents of farmers committing suicides in different parts of Karnataka, the state administration will embark on statewide mobile campaign titled Farming Life, with effect from Monday August 3, in order to restore the confidence of farmers to live.
It aims to change the mindset of farmers and restore confidence, to convince them that suicide is not the last resort when life poses challenges. Life would be happier when one overcomes the difficulties.
The state information and public relations department has organized this mobile campaign, while the assistance of experts is sourced to create awareness by means of street plays and folk singing. It will create awareness on farmers to face the difficulties with grit and confidence and not become cowards by committing suicides.
The district information and public relations department organized the automobiles, trained the artistes, sourced videos of farmers who have faced the difficulties in farming and become successful. The mobile will cover the entire district, staging shows in 10 villages daily.
The audio of CM Siddaramaiah’s message to farmers in restoring their self confidence and encourage farming will be relayed throughout the campaign. The handbills will be distributed in this regard. The flexes will be displayed in key spots of highways to curb farmers committing suicides.
The state forests and DK district-in-charge minister B Ramanath Rai will flag-off the mobile campaign at ZP office complex, here on Monday August 3.
