Mangaluru: Minister Umashree asserts to revive amateur theater in DK

Mangaluru, 30 Jul 2015: In order to revive the neglected Kannada amateur theater, the state administration will introduce a new project shortly, said state Kannada and culture minister Umashree.
The minister Umashree was addressing the delegation of amateur artistes – Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy past president Kasargod Chinna, Karnataka Natak Academy former member V G Pal, theater artiste advocate Sasiraj Rao Kavoor, organizer Suhas Rao, theater enthusiast Nitin Pal and others, at Circuit House, here on Wednesday July 29.
Kasargod Chinna suggested organizing state level workshop to pen the script for the women in Karnataka. There is the greater need to pen the script for new plays depicting the issues of women and children, to shed light on local issues, said Kasargod Chinna. The minister Umashree said that the department will work in this regard.
V G Pal and Sasiraj Rao Kavoor extensively briefed about the miserable plight of theater in Dakshina Kannada district. The minister Umashree assured to take appropriate steps in giving fillip to amateur theater.
Kannada and culture director K A Dayanand and secretary Ramamurti was present.
