Mangaluru: NAAC Peer Team visits Besant Evening College

Mangaluru, 29 Jul 2015: The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) Peer team visited Besant Evening College here on July 23.
The team comprised Professor Tamo Mibang, the Vice-chancellor of Rajeev Gandhi Central University; Itanagar- Arunachal Pradesh was the chairman of the team, Dr Harsha Mehta, principal of SIES College, Mumbai the member co-ordinator and Dr A P Tiwari from Dr Shakunthala Misra National Rehabilitation University, Uttar Pradesh, a member.
After assessing the curricular and co-curricular activities of the college, the team lauded its functioning. The team appreciated the students for their study in the evening hours with the concept ‘Learn while you Earn.’ By observing the infrastructural and learning resource facilities such as well established library with ICT facilities, computer lab, language lab, commerce lab, etc. The team appreciated the management for their vision for the overall development of the youth. The committee praised the college for starting various schemes like ‘share and care,’ scholarship, etc. and also for adopting two villages under its extension activities and also for its other outreach programmes.
The report was handed over to the principal Dr Carmelita Goveas. After receiving the report, Dr Carmelita spoke on the occasion.
The Women’s National Education Society president Kudpi Jagadeesh Shenoy, vice-president Annappa Nayak, correspondent Nagar Narayana Shenoy, members Suresh Mallya and Sathish Bhat were present.
NAAC co-ordinator, Dr Sathish Kumar Shetty welcomed the gathering. Co-coordinator, Dr Vasappa Gowda proposed vote of thanks. Dr Laxminarayan Bhat compered the programme.
