Udupi: Final rites of former state minister Vasant Salian held with state honor

Udupi, 27 Jul 2015: The last rites of former state minister Vasant V Salian was held with state honor at his farmhouse located near forest gate, Yenagudde, Katpady, here amidst thousands of mourners on Sunday July 26.
 
The party activists of Congress, BJP and JDS arrived to pay public homage to Vasant Salian. The mortal remains were placed for public viewing for sometime at Kaup, here on Sunday morning. A large number of people including leaders of different political parties paid their last respects.
 
The shopkeepers in both Kaup and Katpady voluntarily closed their shutters to observe the day of mourning for their beloved departed leader.

 

 

 
The last rites were held by Vasant’s son-in-law Gangadhar Suvarna in the presence of state urban and Udupi district-in-charge minister Vinay Kumar Sorake.
 
The former MLA Lalaji R Mendon and other political leaders were present.
 
The state health minister U T Khader, state forests and DK district-in-charge minister Ramanath Rai, former union minister Janardhan Poojary, MLA Gopal Poojary, former MP Jayaprakash Hegde were also present.
