Mangaluru: Progressive Writers Forum in Konkani takes wing

Mangaluru, 26 Jul 2015: Progressive Writers Forum in Konkani (using Kannada script) was formed during the meeting held at Don Bosco Hall here on Monday July 20. Its focus is to initiate a new beginning that will create a new energy and direction in Konkani literature through its creative work and awareness collectively.
 
Speaking on the need of Progressive Writers Forum in Konkani, Valley Quadras said, ‘Konkani literature is not progressing mainly because of the draught of ’rational thinking’. Due to this, Konkani literature still survives due to the mercy of certain individuals. In any society, a magazine is ’Eye’ and ’Literature’ is the ’Sight.’  No literature will grow with such sentiments, but in the competitive world of today, there is a desperate need for us to think beyond a certain line, collectively we have to initiate a new beginning that must create and inspire young generations to take it forward.’

 

 
Later, discussing on the ’resolutions/by-laws’ of the Progressive Writers Forum, gathered writers discussed/debated various points related to Konkani Forum. There are no office bearers, but only workers in this forum. Hence our main focus must be work for Konkani with a common goal with focus and commitments. They have collectively decided to move forward with the positive thinking for a better beginning for Konkani literature.
 
In the core Committee that will be driving force of this Forum consists of Valley Quadras, Marcel D’Souza, Geo D’Silva Agrar, followed by Maurice D’Sa, H M, Wilson Kateel, Florin Roche, John D’Souza Suntikoppa as the founder members.
