Puttur: Emerging trends in consumer movement - awareness program held at SPC

Puttur, 12 Jul 2015: Suraksha Consumer Forum of St Philomena College here organized an awareness programme on ‘Emerging Trends in Consumer Movement’ at Spandana seminar hall here on Saturday July 11.
Raghavendra P, legal adviser of DK District Federation of Consumer Organizations®, advocate and notary, Mangaluru was the resource person.
Speaking on the topic, Raghavendra said, ‘With a main intention of making consumer protection rules in India at par with international standards, the Ministry of Consumer Affairs of the union government is planning to make amendments to the Consumer Protection Act of 1986. The proposed rules will protect the consumer rights and simplify the judicial process to ensure speedy and inexpensive justice.’
The College vice principal Professor Vishnu Bhat presided the function.
Chinmayi and group sang the prayer song. The director of Suraksha Consumer Forum Professor Dinakara Rao welcomed the gathering. Poojashree proposed the vote of thanks. Nishel Asha D’Souza compered the programme.
