Puttur: Orientation on credit based semester scheme held at St Philomena College

Puttur, 06 Jul 2015: St Philomena College here organized an Orientation Programme on Credit Based Semester Scheme of Mangalore University at SJM Hall of the College here recently.
Professor Dinakara Rao, Associate Professor of Economics was the resource person.
Speaking on the Credit Based Semester Scheme Professor Rao said, ‘The prime objective of Mangalore University in introducing the Credit Based Semester Scheme was to make the higher education at par with the global practices in terms of academic standards and evaluation strategies.’ He also focused on various aspects like subjects of study, duration of the programme, medium of instruction, optional subjects, attendance, course patterns and scheme of examinations, internal assessment, classification of successful candidates, etc.
Professor Leo Norohna, principal of the College presided the function.
Speaking on the occasion, Professor Leo advised the students to involve themselves in CC and EC activities as it will surely contribute on their holistic development.
Professor Uday K, head of department of mathematics and co-ordinator of curricular and extracurricular cell welcomed the gathering.
The programme was compered by Professor Rajeshwari of department of computer science and assistant co-ordinator of curricular and extracurricular activities cell.
