Toronto: Kannadigas worldwide known for peace & harmony; Dr Hanumantayya

Toronto/Canada, 04 Jul 2015: Kannadigas wherever they live in any part of the world, they are goal-oriented and embodied with human values, said litterateur Dr L Hanumantayya, chairman of Kannada Development Authority and chairman of eleventh Vishwa Kannada Samskruti Sammelan.
Dr Hanumantayya was speaking during two-day Vishwa Kannada Samskruti Sammelan organized by Kannada Kasturi Radio, Canada and Mangaluru-based Hrudavahini Balaga at Grand Victoria auditorium, here on Friday July 3. He also said, ‘Kannadigas are known for peace loving and harmonious living.’
Karnataka state family welfare minister H Anjaneya after inaugurating the Sammelan said Karnataka state administration has introduced several programmes to foster Kannada, its distinct culture and folklore. He also lauded the NRI – Kannadigas love for mother tongue Kannada in Canada.
A video of Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah was screened on the occasion.
K P Manjunat Sagar of Hrudayavahini Balaga in his introductory address said that veteran folk artistes who shun publicity are given prominence this time at the Sammelan. It’s the eleventh Sammelan held overseas so far.
Canada province minister Deepika Damerla, senator Asha Shet, parliamentary secretary Dr Param Gill, Indian consul general Akhilesh Mishra also spoke on the occasion.
Canada MP Balaghoshal and sandalwood actor Darshan also spoke on the occasion.
B V Nagaraju of B V Nag said that Vishwa Kannada Sammelan was organized to mark first decennial celebration of Kannada Kasturi Radio.
Bengaluru-based Kikkeri Krishnamurti Bhajan group presented devotional singing after the inaugural function.
Mumbai-based Arunodaya Kala Niketan troupe presented Bharatanatyam, followed by local artistes presented variety entertainment programme.
Canada Kannadiga’s children presented fashion show as part of the programme. The local Kannadiga artiste Lata Padha was felicitated on the same occasion.
