Puttur: St Philomena College observes Int’l Day against Drug Abuse

Puttur, 1 Jul 2015: In order to mark the International Day against Drug Abuse, St Philomena education institutions, here in association with Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project (SKDRDP), here, Jana Jagrathi Vedike, here, organized an general awareness programme at St Philomena College silver jubilee memorial hall, here on Friday June 26.
Fr Dr Antony Prakah Monteiro, campus director of St Philomena College after inaugurating the programme said, ‘Drug is a dangerous substance and misleads the youth of the country and the society should be cautious about drug abuse.’
The resource person of the programme Professor Dr Rajesh Bajangala laid emphasis on the perils of drug abuse. He called upon the students to be cautious falling prey to drugs that will destroy the family and the future of youngster.
Fr Vijay Lobo, principal of St Philomena College presided the function.
Dambekana Sadashiva Rai, Dharnappa Moolya and Professor Leo Noronha were the chief guests of the occasion.
Professor Paul Herald Mascarehnas, head of the department of social work welcomed the gathering. Mohini, supervisor of SKRDP proposed the vote of thanks. Nancy Lavina Pinto, lecturer of department of social work compered the programme.
