Puttur: St Philomena College holds election for Student Council

Puttur, 29 June 2015: The election of the students’ council 2015-2016 of St Philomena College, here was held on Saturday June 27.

 

In order to give an idea of election the students were asked to assemble at the Silver Jubilee Hall of the College. 

 

 

Professor Ganesh Bhat, student welfare officer provided guidelines to the students about the election procedures.

Professor Leo Norohna, principal while addressing the gathering said, ‘The student council election is conducted to foster the democratic principles of the constitution. The election should unite and not divide. There is no ruling or opposition party, each one of you should work together as a team for the betterment of the student community and the college.’

 

Professor Leo further said, ‘With the support of the dedicated staff, disciplined and creative students the college can surely achieve its goal.’

 

Bharathi Rai, student welfare officer compered the programme.

 

Candidates were given an opportunity to speak to further their candidature. Each one of them put forward their ideas and vision for the students’ council 2015-2016.

 

The students exercised their franchise in their respective class rooms under supervision of the lectures and the election officers. Hadley Wilson Gonsalves was elected as the president, Ibrahim Billal was elected as the secretary and Shiksha Shetty was elected as the joint secretary.

 

Elected representatives thanked the students for electing them.
