Puttur: St Philomena PU College Students Council inaugurated

Puttur, 26 June 2015: The Students’ Council 2015-16 of St Philomena Pre-University College here was inaugurated at Silver Jubilee Memorial Hall of the College on Wednesday June 24.
Vivekananda College Sanskrit lecturer Dr Shreesha Kumar after inaugurating the function, said, ‘Today education is losing its true spirit. It is confined to only scoring marks and getting ranks.’ He also called upon the students to work consistently with the activities of the students which will bring good name to the college.
St Philomena College principal Professor Leo Noronha was the chief guest said, ‘Earning money is not the goal of education. Instead discipline, honesty should be the part of education so as to develop the personality of the students.’
St Philomena College campus director Fr Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro said, ‘Every person behave understanding his responsibility and the liberty which is given to us should not cause harm to others.’
St Philomena education institutions correspondent Fr Dr Alfred J Pinto in his presidentaial address conveyed best wishes to the new office bearers of students’ council.
Students’ Council president Ryan Maclean D’Souza, secretary Fran Steve Mascarenhas, joint secretary Dechamma P S along with other student Representatives took the oath to work for the welfare of the student community and bring good name to the college. This was led by St Philomena PU College principal Fr Vijay Lobo.
St Philomena College alumni association president Jayakumar Rai, PTA president Vinson Menezes, student welfare officers Bharath Kumar A and Usha were present.
