Mumbai: Veteran social activist N P Suvarna to get Vishwa Manya Prashasti in Toronto

Mumbai, 24 June 2015: The metro’s veteran social activist N P Suvarna will be awarded Vishwa Manya Prashasti during eleventh Vishwa Kannada Samskruti Sammelan scheduled to be held in Toronto, Canada in association with Kannada Kasturi Toronto and other Kannadiga Associations from Saturday June 27 to Sunday June 28, stated the media release issued by Sammelan Committee president K P Manjunat.
N P Suvarna has contributed immensely for education and social welfare activities since over 5 decades by serving as chairman of Young men’s Education Society. He was the active member of core Committee since the founding of Billawa Jagruti Balaga® in metro. He served as honorary general secretary of Billawar Association Mumbai®, editor of Billawar Association monthly bulletin – Akshaya, organizing secretary of All India Billawar Union and also served for several years with Kannada Bhavan Society.
N P Suvarna had retired from working in top post with Union Bank and well known for his contributions in education and social welfare activities. He was felicitated in Abu Dhabi and in Malaysia recently. He is the recipient of Suvarna Kannadiga State Award conferred by Bengaluru-based Jnanamandara Academy.
He will be leaving along with his wife Prabha Suvarna to Canada on Thursday June 25 to partake in poets’ session.
Prabha Suvarna
She is born in Mangaluru and brought up in metro. She retired working in a top post with RBI. Multifaceted Prabha shared the interest of education and social welfare activities along with her husband N P Suvarna for nearly 4 decades. She is a poet composed over 200 poems in Tulu, Kannada and Hindi. She is actively involved in women wing of Billawa Jagruti Balaga.
