Udupi/M’Belle: Free note-books and school bags distributed to needy students

Udupi/M’Belle, 11 June 2015: Free note-books and school bags were distributed to the needy students of Church Aided Higher Primary School, Moodubelle on Thursday, 11 June 2015 in a brief function held in the school hall.

 

Rev. Fr. Clement Mascarenhas, Correspondent of St. Lawrence Educational Institutions presided over the function. Chandrakant Rao, proprietor of Annapoorna Developers who had donated  note books and P.D. Kamath representing Rajapur Saraswat Credit Cooperative Society which donated school bags were the chief guests. Other guests of honour included Rajendra Shetty-President of Belle Grama Panchayat and also President of Old Students Association, Alphonse K. Alva-Vice President of Parish Pastoral Council and Henry Fernandes. Richard Andrade, Headmaster of the school was also on the dais.

 

Prior to the distribution of free note-books and school bags to the students, the donors-Chandrakant Rao and P.D. Kamath were honoured with shawl, garland and fruits by Rev. Fr. Clement Mascarenhas and other dignitaries on the dais.

 

Rev. Fr. Clement Mascarenhas, Chandrakant Rao, P.D. Kamath, Rajendra Shetty, Alphonse K. Alva, Henry Fernandes and Richard Andrade distributed note-books and school bags to the representatives of the seven classes.

 

 

Speaking at this occasion, P.D. Kamat said that Rajapur Saraswat Cooperative Society besides being a bank also has taken up the social responsibility and has been helping the poorer students by distributing free school bags to such students.

 

Rajendra Shetty in his message said that the Kannada medium schools are not getting enough students. However, the Kannada medium students are no less than English medium students in their achievements.

 

In his presidential address, Rev. Fr. Clement Mascarenhas thanked the donors of free note-books and school bags. He said that the primary objective of the managing committee would be to improve the higher primary school in all respects.

 

Narasimha Nayak compeered the programme, Sr. Irene Viegas welcomed the guests and Kirti Kumar Shetty proposed the vote of thanks.
