K R Pete: Modern farming methods in palm groves highly profitable - A S Ramesh

K R Pete, 11 June 2015: The peasants who are the backbone of the nation can reap higher profits by introducing modern farming methods in palm groves, said taluk peasants leader A S Ramesh.
Ramesh was speaking after inaugurating a seminar on palm grove that was organized jointly by Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project (SKDRDP) and Pragatibandu self-help-groups Federation at Kalabairaveshwar Community Building, Aghalaya village, near here on Wednesday June 10.
Ramesh further said the coconut did not have better price in the market in the past, while it has good rate now. One can lead life even if one nurtures a few palm trees in his/her household. The modern farming methods in palm groves can give higher yield, said Ramesh.
SKDRDP taluk officer H R Lavakumar offered info on various programmes that are undertaken by SKDRDP.
The agricultural officers H E Putta Veere Gowda and Dr M P Kumar held discussion with the farmers on the issues related to palm groves.
Agalaya Agricultural Co-operative Society president A S Sridar, milk producers Union president Shankaranarayan, APMC member K Kale Gowda, Agalaya Government PU College vice president K Sidde Gowda, local leader Shivananje Gowda, SKDRDP zonal co-ordinator Rudresh, members of Pragatibandu self-help-groups and others were present.
