Ramakrishna Mission carries out Swacch Mangaluru on 17th consecutive Sunday

Mangaluru, 24 May 2015: Ramakrishna Mission carried out Swacch Mangaluru for Swacch Bharath - cleanliness drive on seventeenth consecutive Sunday on May 24 at Valencia here.
The drive was inaugurated by Satish Bhat, former principal of Canara College in the presence of Swami Jitakamananda, MLCs Captain Ganesh Karnik and Ivan D’ Souza, Shubhoday Alva, Satyanarayana K V, NSS co-ordinator Vineetha Rai, Suresh Shetty and other eminent persons were present at the venue.
Members of Yuva Brigade, students of Ramakrishna Mission Balakashram and other devotees, volunteers and well-wishers of the Ashram took an active part in the drive.
The area in front of Fatima Retreat House was cleaned by the Swami and Brahmacharis. Members of Yuva Brigade under the leadership of MLC Captain Ganesh Karnik cleaned the area around Valencia Circle.
The bus shelter opposite Fatima Retreat House was dilapidated and people had very difficult time in using the bus shelter during rainy season due to rain water getting accumulated in the low pedestal. The volunteers cleaned the bus shelter, filled up the low lying pedestal with cement and put up a new board with the message on awareness of Clean India.
The bus shelter near Valencia Circle was also cleaned and was given a face-lift after volunteers painted the shelter.
The direction signboards which were illegible due to wear and tear over years were rewritten for the benefit of the public.The footpath adjoining Roshani Nilaya was also repaired and holes were covered with cement slabs after clearing the garbage and dirt lying there. Valencia circle was also cleaned and painted by the volunteers.
Handbills on awareness were distributed by our volunteers among the public in the locality. MRPL, principal patron sponsored this week’s initiative.
This is a part of the 40-weeks Cleanliness Drive being organized by the Ramakrishna Mission and initiated on February 1.

Delighted to see Before and After pictures. We must appreciate people behind this change. If drain lines and stone slabs are fixed with manholes at regular interval distance, this solution may last longer. People’s reps should take some interest. | |

Unless the Concillors show their moral courage to keep the city clean nothing can make it. They and their party must with a single objective of keeping Mangalore neat and clean with roads, foot paths and administration any campaign would be like the P.M ( Picknik minister). The Attitude of the Leaders must change and cooperate with the D.C.and Mayor.May we pray that better counsel would prevail? | |
