A pre-release preview of the album

‘Ek Geet’ promises to enthrall the music lovers with a wide variety of songs. A number of talented artists have been brought together in the album to give life to Kevin Misquith’s compositions to the lyrics written by poets Kishoo Barkur, Wilson Kateel, Sanjay Borkar and Kevin Misquith. Stephen Frank’s music arrangement for the songs in the album has taken these compositions to a whole new level. Here is a brief description of the songs in the album.

The opening track of the album is a very beautiful song called ‘Sukknea go’ written by Goan poet Sanjay Borkar and rendered by Munita Veigas. The poet gives a beautiful message in his poetry using “Sukkne” as a simile which is beautiful composed to music. The composition well-complemented by the music brings out the essence of nature and is one of the most mellifluous numbers in the album.

This song is followed by another melodious and romantic number in Prajoth D’sa’s voice and backed by pleasant music arrangement called ‘Yo Moga’. The lyricist of this song is Kishoo Barkur. Kishoo has done a wonderful job in penning these beautiful romantic lines for a haunting tune, and as known with the beautiful voice that Prajoths has this song weaves magic that makes you listen to the track again & again.

It’s time for the title track now ‘Ek geet’, a very dynamic and energetic song follows ‘Yo Moga’. The lyrics of this song are written by Kevin Misquith and depict the passion of a music composer; this song is an insight to Kevin Misquith as a singer & composer. The composer speaks about what he wants to be as a music composer & what he wants his music to be..!!

The lyrics are thoughtful and moreover passionate, not only passionate but they describe the want of a composer within Kevin. This song has a pleasant start, quite an energetic mid-part and towards the end has a jungalbandi of classical and rock music portion. Ashish Palanna has lent his vocals to this song. One should admit that unlike other songs in the album this song is not a mass kind of song. It’s definitely for classes..!

‘Oh baby’ is quite a unique song.  What makes it unique is that it’s a very simple song. Its catchy tune, equally catchy music & simple lyrics, the chorus which is a mix of 3 languages – Konkani, English and Hindi makes it unique and out of the regular. This is a romantic number written by Sanjay Borkar and rendered by Kevin Misquith.

The brilliant combination of Wilson Kateel’s lyrics and Kevin Misquith’s composition has worked well in the previous albums and the magic continues in this album too through this song called ‘Aaz puni’. This time it’s not a romantic number but a sentimental one. It’s been a long time since there has been a heart breaking song in Konkani and definitely this song is going to be a hit among music lovers who love soft soothing numbers. Along with the brilliant lyrics and tune, the soulful music by Stephen stands out in this song; the music of violins, flute and saxophone in this song drives a listener to a entirely different world. Full marks to Stephen for his beautiful background scoring. Clement Fernandes’s beautiful rendition will leave the listener enchanted.

The next song on the list is ‘Nach tu nach’ composed by Kevin Misquith, its composition and music has a typical Mangalorean touch. It’s a happy happy song with the lyrics of the song having a message to live life full size. It’s a fun song with a moral message to spread smiles, peace, love and happiness. Mohammed Iqbal has sung this song in his witty style and no doubt this song will get the Mangalorean folks to the dance floor.

‘Ek glass beer’ is a peppy yet soothing song, Kevin is known for being innovative and same applies while choosing the subjects of the song. Unlike most of them who stick to love or the common subjects Kevi has always showed to be different. Ek glass beer is one of those songs with different yet though provoking lyrics written by Wilson Kateel. Its tune and music comes across as peppy and a soothing at the same time. This song has been sung by Kevin Misquith.

‘Raath moni moni’ is a very soft & soothing song which was first released in Kevin’s album “He Jeenn” the unplugged version of this song is featured again in this album. The song is sung by Eden D’Sa.

One more song ‘Baila Baila’ written by Wilson Kateel celebrates the beauty of typical Konkani tune & rhythm. A pakka mangalorean country song for sure will get the listener to the dancing mood. The song is sung by Prakash Mahadevan.

Ek Geet is the fifth album production by Kevin Misquith, Evershine Creations have produced the album while Triad Creations has come forward to promote and market the album across the Konkani world.
