Mangaluru: 10 Participants essential in each division at Int’l Surfing Competition - DC

Mangaluru, 19 May 2015: In order to be eligible to award the prizes, at least 10 participants in men’s division and at least 6 participants in women’s division is required in International Surfing Competitions scheduled to be held at Panambur beach from May 29 to May 31, said DC A B Ibrahim.

 

Addressing the meeting of organizers and stakeholders at the district headquarters here on Monday, DC Ibrahim said the competitions will be even if the minimum participants don’t take part, but will not be considered to award the prizes, said DC Ibrahim.  He further said that the organizers have submitted an estimated cost of Rs 28 lac.  The event will be inaugurated on May 29 at 7.00am.

 

MLA B A Moideen Bawa urged the district administration to organize cultural programmes to attract the general public to witness International Surfing Festival and also improve basic amenities around Panambur beach. The involvement of local enterprises is essential in this international sporting event, said MLA Bawa.
