Mangaluru: ’AURORA 15’ inaugurated at Father Muller’s with a grand cultural extrav

Mangalore, 08 May 2015: International Nursing Day began with unveiling of this year’s theme ’AURORA 15’ at the Father Muller’s Academy Auditorium followed by grand cultural fest.

 

The International Nursing Day falls on 12th May 2015. In January 1974, 12 May was chosen to celebrate the day as it is the anniversary of the birth of Florence Nightingale, who is widely considered the founder of modern nursing.

 

 

Father Mullar Hospital does recognizes the special day as it trains hundreds of nurses every year to serve at its hospital and many other hospitals in India and abroad to serve with dedication and love of patients. Every year Father Mullar College of nursing organizes cultural programs and various competitions to commemorate the great International Nursing Day. It is said that the “Nurses are the heart of hospital” without their kind care and dedication no patient can survive. It is not only the medicine that gives the health back to the patients but more importantly it is the loving care of the kind nurses that bring back life into these patients.

 

On the auspicious occasion the students of Nurses Association of the Father Muller School & College of Nursing officially inaugurated the International Nursing day with a grand Cultural fest at the Academy Auditorium. Invocation of blessings from the Almighty was made through a prayer song by the third year GNM Students led by Jovita and group. Ms. Sharon Pais, SNA Advisor FM School of Nursing welcomed the gathering followed by lighting of the traditional lamp by Guest of Honour Ms. Victoria D’Almeida, Vice President, FM College of Nursing accompanied by Ms. Jasmine Sarita Vas, Principal, FM School of Nursing, Sharon Pais and Pramila Madta.

 

On this auspicious occasion Ms. Victoria D’Almeida, Vice President, FM College of Nursing accompanied by Mrs Jasmine Sarita Vas, Principal, Father Muller School of Nursing officially unfolded this year’s theme ‘AURORA 15’ which signifies the natural light the Roman Goddess of dawn which every sick person yarn to see at the end of the day.

 

In her Presidential address Ms. Jasmine Sarita Vas, Principal, FM School of Nursing highlighted care and dedication of nurses for the patients which should be applauded all the time. She further elaborated the roll of nurses. She said “ Nurses worldwide are engaged in innovative activities on a daily basis resulting in significant improvements in the health of patients, populations and health systems. Their contributions have been a fundamental source of progress for health care system around the world. They work in all types of settings in the service of wide constituency of patients, families, communities and health care personnel”.

 

On this special occasion, a loads of grand cultural and other competitions were held such as Mime, Semi-classical Dance, Western Group Songs, Free Style dancing and Solo singing which were held at the Academy Auditorium mesmerized the fully packed audience,  these competitions were judged by imminent personalities namely: Rev. Fr. Roshan Crasta & Mrs. Maria Roshni Lasrado (Mime), Ms. Shailaja Katli & Dr. Sheena (Semi-Classical Dance), Ms. Jackline Fernandes & Dr. Nicole Pereira (Wester group Song) Dr. Aparna (Free Style Dance).

 

Other competitions such as Essay, Face Painting, Hand Made Cards Making, Hair Style, Mehendi were held at the College of Nursing hall.

 

The Vote of Thanks was proposed by Ms. Shilpa Jacob, Third Year GNM student. The entire event was wonderfully compered by Rinsha Mary, Jasmine Maria Lobo and Jasmine Noronha. The inaugural and cultural fest concluded at 5pm with announcements of results of the competitions to a loud cheer from the students. Loads of other activities are also planned for the second day of International Nursing Day and the grand Finale on 9th May 2015.
