Mangaluru: ZP vice president offers motion for Cleanliness Campaign in village councils

Mangaluru, 06 May 2015: Although Dakshina Kannada district gets moderate rains and river flow with abundant water, its distressing issue to face scarcity of drinking water during peak summer, said ZP vice president Satish Kumpala.
Satish was speaking after laying the motion for creating mass awareness on drinking water and cleanliness campaign that will be held in select village councils of all taluks in Dakshina Kannada district under Swacch Bharat in association with Dakshina Kannada zilla panchayat, information and public relations department, rural development and Panchayat Raj here on Monday May 5.
Satish also said, ‘The future will be miserable, if we fail to judiciously use water and maintain hygiene. The mass awareness goes a long way in this regard,’ said Satish.
Satish appealed that it should become a daily habit to make judicious use of water and maintain cleanliness. The co-operation of people is essential, added Satish.
ZP chief executive officer Srividya said that all the departments are involved in creating mass awareness under Swacch Bharat campaign. If the drinking water and garbage are not properly managed, it would lead to health problems. The general awareness programmes is being held in this regard. It will be held in 20 village councils in DK district.
ZP deputy secretary N R Umesh, rural drinking water and cleanliness department executive engineer Jayaprakash, Swacch Bharat Mission district-in-charge Manjula were present.
The district information officer B A Khadersha welcomed the gathering.
The renowned puppetry troupe of Gunduraj from Hassan will present puppet show in order to create people awareness programme in select village councils.
