M’luru: Ramakrishna Mission carries out Swacch Mangaluru for consecutive 13th Sunday

Mangaluru, 27 Apr 2015: Ramakrishna Mission carried out Swacch Mangaluru for Swacch Bharath - cleanliness drive on thirteenth consecutive Sunday on April 26 at opposite municipal headquarter, Lalbagh here.
The drive was inaugurated by Dinesh Holla, renowned environmentalist in the presence of Swami Jitakamananda.
Shubhoday Alva, Satyanarayana K V, NSS co-ordinator Vineetha Rai, Lakshminarayana, group general manager of MRPL, Dr Jeevaraj Sorake, Suresh Shetty, Dr Satish Rao and other eminent persons were present at the venue.
Employees of Ambuja Cement, Monkey Stand Friends Circle, students of Ramakrishna Mission Balakashram and other devotees and well-wishers of the Ashramatook an active part in the drive.
As Mangalore is gearing up for the ensuing Federation Cup there were several voices against the poor preparation and dirt near the venue. Ramakrishna Mission planned to do something in this regard and went ahead with planning days before the drive.
A group of volunteers led by Swami himself cleaned the weeds and removed the dirt and garbage thus cleaning the area near Mangalore City Corporation. Students of Balakashram cleaned the bus shelter opposite municipal headquarter and painted the bus shelter.
There were several potholes on the footpath beside Mangala Stadium from Pabbas in Lalbagh to Ladyhill. This was posing danger to people using the footpath and several visitors and sports persons participating in the Federation Cup. Ramakrishna Mission identified about 15 such holes and with the help of senior volunteers got the concrete slabs done in its premises and covered the holes and completed the repair work. This was of immense relief to general public.
MRPL was the principal patron of this initiative supported this drive.
This is a part of the 40-weeks Cleanliness Drive being organized by the Ramakrishna Mission and initiated on February 1.
