Udupi: Bishop Dr Gerald to ordain 2 deacons on Apr 27 & 28

Udupi, 22 Apr 2015: The deacons Royson Joel Fernandes and Vijay Joyson D’Souza of newly-formed Udupi diocese will be ordained during the Eucharistic Celebration at their respective parishes on April 27 and April 28.

 

 

The deacon Royson Joel Fernades will be ordained at his native – St Maria Goretti parish, Hirgan, Karkal on April 27 and  the deacon Vijay Joyson D’Souza will be ordained at his native – St John Bosco parish, Bola, Karkal on April 28 by bishop Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo of Udupi diocese.

 

The deacon Royson Joel Fernandes is the son of Richard and Jacinta couple residing in Hirgan parish, while the deacon Vijay Joyson is the son of Joseph and Natalia D’Souza residing in Kelmbet – Bola parish.  Both Royson and Vijay pursued priestly studies at St Joseph’s Seminary, Jeppu, Mangaluru since 2007.  Royson also served in parishes of Mogarnad, Mulky, Pavoor, Cascia and Mount Rosary for 4 years – Santekatte, while Vijay served at Ujire and Kalmady parishes.   

 

It will be the third ordination at the newly-formed Udupi diocese. Fr Mahesh D’Souza of Moodubelle parish was the first priest ordained in the newly-formed Udupi diocese during 2013, Fr Rolvin Aranha and Fr Gerald Sandeep D’Mello were ordained at Shirva parish in 2014.
