Mangaluru, 19 Apr 2015: Ramakrishna Mission carried out Swacch Mangaluru for Swacch Bharat - cleanliness drive on twelfth consecutive Sunday at DC office premises here on April 19.
The drive was inaugurated by Dr Satish Rao, renowned psychiatrist in the presence of Swami Jitakamananda.
MLC Captain Ganesh Karnik, Shubhoday Alva, Shivakumar K, Satyanarayana K V, NSS co-ordinator Vineetha Rai and other eminent persons were present at the venue.
Alumni Association of Ramakrishna Mission Balakashram, students of Ramakrishna Mission Balakashram and other devotees and well-wishers of the Ashram took an active part in the drive.
One batch of volunteers cleared the garbage, plastic and other pieces of papers strewn here and there and cleaned the campus. Another batch of volunteers cleared the sand accumulated beside the footpath and road and helped in easy traffic movement on the road. Pieces of glass, stones and sand were removed from the parking slot to facilitate parking of more vehicles. Due to lack of signboard at a prominent place visitors were put to inconvenience which was addressed by our volunteers by putting up a new sign board indicating directions of various offices located in the campus. Our volunteers also distributed the pamphlets on awareness in the nearby area. The drive was carried out from 7.30am to 10.30am on April 19.
This is a part of the 40-weeks Cleanliness Drive being organized by the Ramakrishna Mission and initiated on February 1.
