Mangaluru: Auto driver Montu Lobo (80) bestowed title, Kudla Auto Raja

Mangaluru, 30 Mar 2015: Besant Evening College along with its Alumni Association celebrated Auto Drivers Day at the College auditorium here on Sunday March 29 at 6.00 pm.

 

Around 45 auto drivers were felicitated and among them 3 were chosen for honours.

 

Montu Lobo, an 80-year-old-auto driver, was honoured with the title, ‘Kudla Auto Raja,’ K Mohammed was honoured as ‘Kudla Auto Atmabhandava’ and Sundar Shetty was honoured as ‘Kudla Auto Mitra.’ They were also given cash prizes.

 

 

Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel was the chief guest, appreciated the organizers for celebrating Auto Drivers Day. The traffic assistant commissioner Uday Nayak, Sunil Kumar Bajal of CPI (M), Besant Institutions deputy chairman Manel Annappa Nayak were the guests of honour.

 

Besant Institutions chairman Kudpi Jagadish Shenoy presided the function. Besant Evening College principal Dr Carmelita Goveas spoke about the objectives of organising Auto Drivers Day.

 

The programme co-ordinator Ishwar Poojary welcomed the gathering.

 

Professor Dr Sathish Kumar Shetty, Mahaveera, Gopal Raddi Ritti read out the honours and the economics lecturer Vishwanath Achar proposed the vote of thanks. It was followed by entertainment and dinner for all present.
