Bengaluru: 11th World Kannada Cultural Convention at Toronto, Canada from Jun 27 to 28

Bengaluru, 29 Mar 2015: Hrudayavahini – Mangaluru, Kannada Kasturi Radio – Toronto and B V Nag Communication Inc - Toronto, eleventh World Kannada Cultural Convention, 2-day event will be held at Grand Victorian Convention Centre, Ontario, Canada from June 27 to June 28.
It’s during literary convention - poets’ session, laughter session, media session and NRI Kannadiga session will be held. Bharatanatyam, folk dances, dance recital, Yakshagana and other traditional dances will be presented during cultural extravaganza. The splendor of Kannada culture will be exemplified in Canada.
Ten World Kannada Cultural Conventions were held so far: in Abu Dhabi during 2005 and 2013, in Singapore during 2005 and 2010, in Bahrain during 2006 and 2011, in Kuwait during 2007, in Qatar during 2008, in Dubai during 2009, in Kenya during 2013.
Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah, state social welfare minister Anjaneya, Kannada and culture minister Umashree will attend the inaugural function on June 27 afternoon.
Indian Ambassador to Canada and Toronto mayor will be invited to attend the historical event.
The union law minister D V Sadanand Gowda, Kannada Development Authority chairman Dr L Hanumantayya will attend valedictory function on June 28.
Over 70 cultural troupes from Karnataka and rest of India will present variety cultural shows during two-day cultural extravaganza. The heads of Kannada organizations in different nations will also attend the mega event.
The organizers will be bringing out a special bulletin to commemorate eleventh World Kannada Cultural Convention, while the interested can send their articles on global peace and harmony, fostering international bond, poetry, stories, humor columns etc to e-mail ID: hrudayavahini@rediffmail.com
An accomplished individual who has contributed significantly for Kannada literature and culture will be chosen as chairman of Convention.
The Global Man – 2014 will be conferred to theater artistes, litterateurs, doctors, technologist and social activists for their extraordinary services.
