Mangaluru: Ramakrishna Mission carries out Swacch Mangaluru on 8th consecutive Sunday

Mangaluru, 22 Mar 2015: Ramakrishna Mission carried out Swacch Mangaluru for Swacch Bharat - cleanliness drive on eighth consecutive Sunday on March 22 at Car Street here.
The drive was inaugurated by Swami Anupamanand of Ramakrishna mutt, Hyderabad and Swami Prajnanathanand of Ramakrishna mutt, Kadapa.
Students of SDM PG Studies cleaned the Car Street localities and distributed the awareness pamphlets among the locals. Students of Narayana Guru College cleaned the area near Temple square premises and footpaths.
This week’s special focus was cleaning of the campus of Government First Grade College in Car Street, here. The volunteers also renovated the dilapidated Kala Mandir in the college premises. Several structures in the hall were broken. This was repaired and the building was washed and given painting. JCB was used to clear the garbage in the campus and leveling work was done.
This is a part of the 40-weeks Cleanliness Drive being organized by the Ramakrishna Mission and initiated on February 1. Under this, the student volunteers assemble in the Ashrama on Saturday evenings for an evening retreat, ‘Swacch Manas’ where they are taught meditation, bhajans and inculcation of values of social responsibility.
