Mangaluru: Visually-impaired & specially-abled children display ramp skills

Mangaluru, 15 Mar 2015: They say one requires special skills to walk on the ramp but the visually-impaired students of Roman and Catherine Lobo School for Blind and specially- abled children of Sanidhya Special School displayed their ramp skills here on Saturday March 14, during the programme – Walk with Confidence, organized by Mangalore Institute of Fashion Technology (MIFT) in association with Mandev Educational and Charitable Trust.
The programme began with the formal function which was inaugurated by former mayor Mahabala Marla.
Marla who congratulated the organisers for the unique programme said that such programmes truly build confidence in the minds of specially-abled.
Speaking on the occasion, MIFT director M G Hegde said, ‘Every kid has a desire to wear new clothes and look good. The visually-impaired have their inner eyes open even though their outer eyes are closed. But we have closed our inner eyes even though we have our outer eyes open. We should encourage the specially-abled children,’ said Hegde.
MIFT principal Chandralekha Gowda, Mandev Educational and Charitable Trust chairman – former state minister Nagaraj Shetty were present on the occasion.
