Belthangady based missing youth traced in Mumbai

 

Beltangady, 11 Mar 2015: A 25-year-old who had mysteriously gone missing while on his way back from Riyadh in Saudi Arabia to Belthangady few days ago, has been traced in Mumbai.

 

 

Safwan (25), son of late Aboobacker, and a resident of Karpady in Puttila village here, had left from Riyadh to Mumbai by Jet Airways flight on February 21. The next day, he landed at Mumbai airport and was supposed to take a connecting flight to Mangaluru. However, after going through customs and collecting his baggage, he disappeared, leaving his baggage behind at the Mumbai airport.

 

According to sources, Safwan and his father Aboobacker were employed in Saudi Arabia. Aboobacker was killed by unidentified assailants about four months ago in Saudi. It is said that Safwan had undergone depression due to the incident. Also, as his mother was afraid of his life, she had asked him to come back home.

 

When he did not reach Mangaluru on February 22, his worried family went to Mumbai and on enquiry learnt that he had left behind his luggage in the airport. Following this, they filed a complaint with the Sahar police.

 

During investigation, the police through CCTV footages, found images of Safwan going towards the outer auto rickshaw stand at the airport. They had also released his picture on newspapers and online. According to sources, Safwan was roaming around the railway stations in Mumbai all these days. A Belthangady based family who is currently residing in Mumbai, happened to see Safwan at a railway station and they called up his family members in Belthangady. Safwan’s family will get him back from Mumbai shortly, it is learnt.
