Mangaluru, 05 Mar 2015: Taking a dig at Sriram Yedapadittaya for his derogatory comments against Christianity, eminent speaker Vincent Alva Pamboor said that he is not fit to be called with name of Ram rather he has to be called as Ravana.
Addressing the massive gathering of Christians in front of the office of Deputy Commissioner, here on Wednesday March 4, Vincent said, ‘If in case he has the parents I request them to change his name as Ravana. With the name of the Sri Ram, he cannot pass such comments against Christ and Christianity. Some believe Ram incarnation of Jesus. I urge the Christian youth to forgive him. I also urge the police not to take any stringent action against him. The Christ will bless his mother and family,’ said Vincent.
Speaking about the hate comments of conversion against Mother Theresa by RSS chief Mohan Bhagawat, Vincent said that Mohan Bhagavat is not fit enough to pass any comment against Mother Theresa. ‘She is responsible for the revolution of social service in India. Does it was necessary for Mother to come here and serve the destitute for the sake of conversion. I agree that mother has converted a Hindu to be a true Hindu and a Muslim to be true Muslim. And if mother had converted people luring them, then there is no meaning to Christianity in the world and people converted to christianity only admiring the service of the Mother,’ said Vincent.
Speaking about an incident when mother was accused by a few on conversion charges at a Hindu temple, Vincent said, ‘Mother had faced the allegations of conversion when she was alive. When the SP of Kolkata in pursuing the case of alleged conversions from locals who demanded Mother to be take away from the place said, ’I will surely take away her from the place if your mother or your sister is ready to serve the people in the way she does.’ Such was the dedication Mother had towards the sick and ailing.’
‘In the recently held Hindu Samajotsav, the good of Bhagavad-Gita had to be spread among the people belonging to the great Hindu religion. Rather a young girl spoke beyond with false maturity by not knowing the reality. It is the conspiracy of some people to divide the society and make the universal religion of Hinduism as a narrow religion. I have to sincerely thank Bhagawat for giving me an opportunity to speak about Mother Theresa,’ said Vincent.
Taking a dig at Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat, Vincent said, ‘I respect you as a leader of Hindu religion. You own a group of education institutions. You tell about conversion in our district. Please show us the proofs regarding the allegations and there is no point in making baseless allegations,’ said Vincent.
CITU district general secretary Sunil Kumar Bajal speaking on the occasion, alleged that it is the conspiracy of the ruling right wing leaders to target which is their hidden agenda as well.
‘Mohan Bhagawat does have any eligibility to say anything about Mother Theresa. They consider minorities as second class citizens. If there were no Christian education institutions in the district, SC/ST would not have got the education. If the Christians had to do the conversion, they would have become priests, teachers and nuns and would not have served the society,’ said Sunil.
Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy president Roy Castelino said that it is a conspiracy to target minorities. They speak about Clean India but let them cleanse nation of corruption, communalism and terrorism. I thank the law enforcement agencies for arresting Sriram Yadapadittaya. I also urge the Catholic youth and leaders for having registered complaints in 25 police stations against the derogatory comments.
ICYM former president Sheldon Crasta, Mangaluru diocesan vicar general Monsignor Dennis Moras Prabhu, ICYM diocesan Fr Ronald D’Souza, Krishnappa Konchady and others were present.
