Mangaluru: After long tug-of-war auto fare slashed down to Rs 23
Mangaluru, 28 Feb 2015: Bringing an end to the long pending issue of slashing down the auto fares, the district administration has decided to fix Rs 23 as minimum auto fares on Saturday, February 28.
The new auto fares will be implements form Sunday, March 1 onwards as per the order issued by the Regional Transport Authority (RTA). According to the new fare list Rs 13 will be charged for minimum three passengers after the first 1.5 kilometer and waiting charges has been set as 25 percent of the meter charge for next 45 minutes of waiting while first 15 minutes would be free.
Though 20 kg will not be charged, Rs 2 will be charged for every extra kg. Auto drivers are allowed to demand 1.5 times the above charges between 10 pm and 5 am.
All auto drivers have been directed to display the revised charges prominently on their vehicles behind the driver’s seat, along with the driver’s permit attached with photograph and mobile phone number. The RTA has also instructed all auto drivers to install digital meters compulsorily.
