Udupi: Diocesan authority felicitates toppers of Class X Catechism exam

Udupi, 27 Feb 2015: Divya Jyothi, diocesan Centre for Holy Book, Catechism and Liturgy organized felicitation programme for toppers of Class X Catechism exam among 33 schools at Bishop’s House, here on Thursday February 26.
Udupi bishop Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo presided the programme here on Thursday.
The diocesan head of Family Life Commission Fr Chetan Lobo Capuchin in his keynote address outlined the devoted life in the family. He said that it’s wrong to say that only popes, bishops or clergies could be become saints. Blessed Ozanum was a laity who would be beatified in the nearest future. ‘We have to keep our promise of devoted wedded couple,’ said Fr Lobo. He stressed on the responsibility of parents to sustain Christian faith among the family members.
Bishop felicitated 32 students who secured highest marks in Catechism examination conducted by the diocese with certificates, mementoes and Bible each.
The bishop Dr Lobo in his presidential address said, ‘We have to lay foundation for the strong faith on God which would be secured in our life. No doubt that those who secured highest marks in Catechism will surely get highest marks in SSLC exam,’ said bishop Dr Lobo.
Udupi deanery vicar Fr Fredrick Mascarenhas was present on the dais.
The students of St Mary’s School trained by Jennifer Buthello presented the welcome dance. Divya Jyothi director Fr Steven D’Souza welcomed the gathering. Shaila Fernandes of Udupi compered the programme. Fr Steven D’Souza proposed vote of thanks.
Thirty-two students along with their parents were present on the occasion.
