Awareness programme on PAN Card at St Philomena College

Puttur, 17 Feb 2015: Suraksha Consumer Forum of St Philomena College here organized an awareness programme on PAN Card at their Prerana seminar hall here recently.
Muralidhar K, financial consultant of Wealth Vision, here was the resource person.
Muralidhar in his presentation said, ‘PAN stands for Permanent Account Number. It is a ten-digit alphanumeric number, issued by the Income Tax Department under the supervision of the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT). It is mandatory to quote PAN on return of income, all correspondence with any income tax authority. It is also compulsory to quote PAN in all documents pertaining to financial transactions notified from time-to-time by the Central Board of Direct Taxes. It is also mandatory to mention PAN for obtaining a telephone or cellular connection. Likewise, PAN has to be mentioned for making a time deposit exceeding Rs 50,000 with a Bank or Post Office or depositing cash of Rs 50,000 or more in a Bank.
The College principal Professor Leo Noronha presided the function.

Over 60 students took part in this programme and also applied for the PAN Card.
