Mangaluru: Gold Haul at City Airports; Customs seize gold foils worth over Rs 15 lac

Mangaluru, 04 Feb 2015: The officers of customs at Mangalore International Airport (MIA) seized gold in the form of foil strips totally weighing 570 grams valued at over Rs 15 lac, which were concealed in the inner top cover of 2 trolley suitcases, carried by the passenger Muhammed Shamseer P A, resident of Pallathungal, Thekkil Post, Via Chengala, Kasargod district of Kerala, who arrived at MIA by Jet Airways flight number 9W531 from Dubai on Wednesday February 4 morning.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of Udayashankaran N , assistant commissioner of customs, MIA.
Further investigation is being underway, under the guidance of D Purushottam, Commissioner.
