M’luru: Prof Vedavati authored Tulu book - Hariharana Ragalelu released

Mangaluru, 30 Jan 2015: At the joint aegis of Chutuku Sahitya Parishat, Mangaluru taluk, Tulu Sangh of Besant Women’s College, here an introspection on Tulu book ‘Hariharana Ragalelu’ authored by Professor D Vedavati and Tulu poets meet was held at the College auditorium recently.
‘The translation should not distort the original text. It’s not easy to translate, because one ought to have mastery over both languages. Professor D Vedavati has translated the book by indepth study. It’s needed for the growth of Tulu literature, said Akashwani – Mangaluru assistant director Dr Vasant Kumar Perla.
Mangaluru taluk Chutuku Sahitya Parishat president Yashwant D S delivered the introductory address.
Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy member Professor D Vedavati said, There is dearth of Shaiva literature than Dasa literature in Tulunadu.’
The College head of department of Kannada Dr Meenakshi Ramachandra recited the Gamaka poetry.
The veteran poets Shivanand Karkera, Sadanand Naravi, students Nikhita, Akshata and Laxmi partaken in poets’ session.
The College Tulu Sangh convener lecturer Jnaneshwari welcomed the gathering.
The College principal Dr Sudha K was present.
Tulu Sahitya Parishat member and Canara PU College lecturer Raghu Idkidu proposed vote of thanks. Rakshita compered the programme.
