Mangaluru: City bus runs over school boy at K S Rao Road

Mangaluru, 28 Jan 2015: A city bus plying from Kunjatbail to city bus terminus mowed a school boy at K S Road, here on Wednesday January 28 morning.
The deceased has been identified as Anand Raj, a resident of Kannur, near Adyar, here. He was studying in Class IV at Ganapati School, here.
Sources informed that Anand Raj along with his elder brother Rajkumar who is studying in Class VII, and his colleague were crossing K S Rao Road, here when the city bus bearing route number 13 B hit the backpack of Anand Raj. He fell on the road when the bus ran over him killing Anand Raj instantly.
The bus driver fled from the scene soon after the accident.
This is the addition to the tally of people who have lost their lives to the reckless driving of drivers of private city buses. The private bus owners Association has been lobbying against starting KSRTC bus services in the city and also against fixing speed-governors that would restrain the driver not to drive beyond 60 kilometres per hour will have to address the grievances of general public.
Traffic west police have registered a case in this regard.
