Hassan: MLA Narayan Gowda sets motion for Hemagiri cattle fest

Hassan, 22 Jan 2015: The annual festivities at Hemagiri in Krishnarajapete, near here were a major event in the past, while it’s owing to the apathy of elected representatives it has lost its glory. Meanwhile, in order to restore it former glory, it will be held with much fanfare this year. The gold and silver will be presented to the owners of cows that have been judged top amongst the livestock in the competition. The pure drinking water supply to the cows, shade for livestock, lights and basic amenities will be provided during the day at the venue and on the evening’s folk singing, mythological plays, Yakshagana plays and magic shows will be held during weeklong celebration. In order to attract youth, boating on Hemavati river, motor boat rafting are embarked on. I urge a large number of people to come to witness Hemagiri Jatra and co-operate for its success, said Krishnarajapete MLA Narayan R Gowda.

 

MLA Gowda was speaking during cultural extravaganza that was organized as part of Hemagiri annual festivities in Krishnarajapete taluk, near here on Wednesday January 21.

 

 

Hassan district Kannada and culture department assistant director Anne Gowda after inaugurating Hemagiri Jatra said that the visual and media has been declining the interest of people towards annual festivities that was earnestly looked upon by the elders in the past. The folk singing indeed gives mental bliss, said Anne Gowda. He also urged the farmers fraternity to witness weeklong cultural shows.

 

The renowned folk singers Hurugalavady Ramayya and Manjula troupe presented melodious folk singing and Sugama Sangeet on the occasion.

 

 The motion was set for state-level volleyball tournament during the programme.

 

ZP member Anusuya, Bandihole gram panchayat president B Manjunat, local leaders K T Gangadar, H T Manju, M R Prasanna Kumar, Ramdas, Sheshadri, Hemmadahalli Rame Gowda, Kai Manjunat, Vijayaprasanna, Devarase Gowda, Jayarame Gowda, K S Santosh, K R Neelakanta and others were present.
