Udupi, 12 Jan 2015: Kavita Trust® that is striving to promote Konkani poetry, in association with state Kannada and culture department, Mangaluru-based Konkani Language and Culture Foundation and The Expression organization, organized Kavita Fest - 2015 at the residence of Greta Stany Lewis, Chowlikere, Barkoor, near here on Sunday January 11.
Sarvodaya International Trust® governing council member retired Indian Ambassador Pascal Allen Nazareth inaugurated Kavita Fest – 2015 by hoisting the petals here on Sunday morning.
Konkani Language and Culture Foundation chairman Basti Vaman Shenoy and The Expression organization chairman Naveen Dias were the guests of honor.
Kavitvachem Nandanavan, book authored by Maxim Lobo was released during the programme.
Maurice and Benedicta D’Souza memorial multi-lingual poets’ seminar was held at the chairmanship of Poornanandachary. Kavita Trust treasurer Avrel M Rodrigues moderated the poets’ seminar.
The eminent Konkani poet Andrew L D’Cunha introduced the poets.
Cha Fra De Costa memorial children’s poetry recitation final contest that was sponsored by Nelson and Lavina Rodrigues, fourth All India youth Konkani poetry recitation final contest that was sponsored by Rohan and Lavita Monteiro, seminar on ‘Mojen Jeevit Moji Kavita’ was chaired by renowned poet Ramesh Veluskar was held on the occasion.
Mathias Family Kavita Puraskar – 2014 was conferred on Iqbal Sayeedi during the programme.
The prizes to the winners of late Charles and Theresa Rodrigues memorial eighth All India children’s poetry was distributed on the same occasion.
Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy awardee poet Madhav Borkar was the chief guest during the valedictory function.
Barkoor parish priest, Udupi diocesan chancellor Fr Valerian Mendonca, entrepreneur Mohtisham Abdul Rehman, Navayat community leaders were the guests of honor.
Gokuldas Prabhu, Dr Michael Lobo, Walter Nandalike, Alex Saldanha Kemmannu, C G S Taccode, Chetan Acharya, Gurudutt Baliga, Hemacharya, Dr Steven Quadros, Manu Bahrain, Ron Roche, Francis Fernandes Cascia, J F D’Souza, Nanu Marol Tottam, Vitori Karkal and others were present.
Kavita Trust chairman Melvyn E Rodrigues offered condolence on the demise of Konkani litterateur J B Moraes and writer Madhavi Surdesai.
Kavita Trust secretary Kishore Gonsalves welcomed the gathering. Eric Soans Barkoor compered the programme.
