Technical glitch in AIE flight strands passengers in Bahrain for 24 hrs
Mangaluru, 18 Dec 2014: More than 170 passengers are stranded in Bahrain for almost a day after an Air India Express flight no IX 889 developed a technical snag on Wednesday.
The flight which took off from Mangaluru International Airport at 8:30 am on Wednesday was carrying passengers to Bahrain and Kuwait. Due to the technical glitches, the flight could not proceed towards Kuwait. The passengers who are supposed to reach Kuwait yesterday were transported through Gulf Air on Thursday, December 18.
Air India Station Manager Nagesh Shetty stated that such technical slags are not reported very often.
"Nearly 101 Mangaluru bound passengers from Bahrain and 70 Mangaluru bound from Kuwait are affected. Currently, Doha Express from Mumbai has left to Bahrain to identify the technical glitch. Once it rectified, the passengers are expected to reach Mangaluru by 8:45 am on Friday, December 19," he added further.
Passengers who are supposed to travel back to their native in India for Christmas and New Year have expressed their angst against the delayed schedule.
